An old friend
I haven't listened to this show in years! Back in 1986 or so, my older sister shared a SBD copy from Oakie-Iko's trading stash (you know, blanks and postage).

BRR Blues and Samson were filler on the Set 1 XLII, and I wore that beast out. Coming in here today, I was pleasantly surprised by a Hunter Seamons matrix. To my ears, this is (by far) the best reproduction of this show. It captures the echo of the tiny gymnasium, while maintaining the clarity of the board. For many years, I listened to this show and fantasized about the Grey Fox (I think) bus ride that brought people from the Bay Area up to Anchorage for this solstice. What a trip that must've been! Then, Deadbase rewarded me with reviews where someone mentioned sharing growing tips with a sheriff on the "smoking deck" outside. Ah, midnight sun, room to dance, and Jerry's open spaces. The peak, here, to me, is Jerry's "storyteller" jam in Terrapin. It's downright lovely. The board allows Bobby's gentle, semi-acoustic phrasings to have a presence, and the audience portion helps the Phil bombs rumble. Sounding great on headphones! Here's to old reveries!
